My name is Mrs. Watson and I teach first grade at Willow Springs Elementary in Jordan School District in Draper, Utah. I am also the technology specialist for our school, which has been lots of extra work sometimes for a first year teacher. I have really enjoyed it though.
I like to use technology/social software in my classroom. I use websites as references all the time as well as using interactive sites with the projector to help subsidize my lessons in all curricular areas. I do a lot with Excel and PowerPoint. I create presentations to show them or interactive presentations with hyperlinks throughout that they can maneuver around to discover and learn on their own. I have a computer in my classroom that I let the students use in small groups during centers. A big challenge for me is to get other teachers to use social software, let alone technology. They seem to be waiting for a break in the "technology change" or a step backwards so they can jump in and learn it.
